After our recent trip to the beach it got me thinking about anticipation. We had so much anticipation leading up to our trip. It had been far too long since we were at the beach. Far too long since we had been able to get away and relax.
When I say that word, what comes to mind? I think of excitement, expecting something great is going to happen. I think of suspense. Not knowing exactly how it will play out but that it will be good.
I’d like to think that I have that same anticipation in my relationship with God. “Not knowing exactly how it will play out but that it will be good.” God is good so I how could I expect anything less from a good God?
The most important thing I’m learning is this. I don’t know when God is going to unfold something wonderful but I know He will. I don’t know how God is going to reveal something amazing but I’m anticipating.
I don’t want to just anticipate his blessings.
I want to anticipate Him.
That wonderful feeling when I know He’s there.
When I feel His comforting hand.
When I experience His power.
When I discover His will.
When I worship Him freely.
When I sit and be still just to live in the moment with Him.
The greatest moments happen when there are no expectations just anticipation of something revealed. Every day I’m a little bit closer to knowing Him more.
Some days I anticipate what He’ll say and I hear nothing. But anticipation leaves me hungry. Even more. As day by day goes by.
I hope. I seek. I wait.
And when He speaks it fills my soul with peace. It fills my heart with joy. It fills my being with adoration.
Our challenge today?
Anticipate what He wants to do in you. Anticipate His presence.
Where do you sense He is leading you?

So well written – We spoke about this during our “night of worship” last friday night – we spoke about listening and waiting on him, feeling him walk beside you – so glad to see this on your post today. One of the songs from that night was “holy spirity” by Brian and Katie Torwalt – it really echos the mood of your post.

Thanks Shashi! I’ll have to check out that song and see if I’ve heard it before.
