There are many questions that pop up on miracles. What are the first ones that come to your mind?
“Are they for real?”
“Why do some people experience miracles and others do not?”
“Why don’t we see as many miracles as they saw in ‘bible’ times?”
Yes, miracles happen. Do you believe in miracles?
God performs miracles for his glory. He does so that he gets the praise. In John 11 Lazarus was sick. His sisters Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus.
But when Jesus heard the news he told them, “Lazarus’ sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God. I, the Son of God, will receive glory in this.” Jesus himself spoke those words.
After receiving word he stayed where he was for 2 days. Why do you think he did that? Why didn’t he immediately go to him?
I suppose that it was to the heighten the excitement of a miracle. To draw attention. To gather a crowd.
Jesus knew Lazarus was sick. He could have went straight away and healed him. But he chose to let him die. God received honor and glory by bringing a dead man to life. Talk about capturing the attention of people. This would certainly do it!
In verse 14 of John 11 Jesus said, “Lazarus is dead. And for your sake I’m glad I wasn’t there because this will give you another opportunity to believe in me.” That is what it is all about my friends. He uses us, his children, to give others opportunities to believe.
What opportunities do you think you have missed out on?
How many times have you said “no” to a Savior?
How many times have you you turned down an opportunity to share the message with others?
The scary thing is I’ve probably ruined way too many opportunities. But one thing I’m sure about. My life is just a vapor. As each day passes I have less time to share.
God help me to be bold in my walk. Bold in my faith. Bold in love.
Thoughts anyone?
Love as always,
Melanie
