Could it possibly be that we’re half way through July already. I can’t even let myself think about it too much or I just might cry.
Speaking about crying….yesterday we (or maybe I should say I) had grand plans. We started out trying to blueberry pick only to find that they are closed on Tuesdays. I sort of wanted to be a big baby and just sit in the parking lot and cry. We’ve been trying to make it happen for 2 weeks now. AND still no blueberry picking. Argh!
Moving on…
Plan B. We stopped at the rails to trails in York County. So gorgeous. If you’re in the area check it out. It’s just awesome. Converted railroads are now just nice open trails to ride bikes, run, walk or even horseback. I just love seeing all the sights. This has been our 3rd visit to the one in York County. Each time we’ve visited a different area. Every time I just fall in love all over again.
So here’s what we checked off the list recently:
1. Visit Miss Harriet
Miss Harriet is a dear friend of mine who is also my mentor. She’s a woman of great wisdom and depth of understand. Her knowledge of the bible and life in general astounds me. I’m privileged to know her and call her a friend. She let us come to swim. A most wonderful summer afternoon.
2. Visit a Factory
We visited the Utz Factory in Hanover. It’s a self guided tour where you get to watch the actual production. From peeling to packaging. We all had our favorite parts. It’s just so cool to see how things operate. The kids especially enjoyed watching all those chips distributed into proper bags and placed in cartons. Freebie chips at the end too!
3. Go to an Amusement park: (technically it says Hershey Park) I’m not holding my breath for Hershey Park since the summer is quickly passing and we only have 1 empty Saturday left. If it rains….we’ll see. But we went to Knoebel’s Amusement Park with MomMom and PopPop. So much fun.
4. Visit MomMom and PopPop. Score! We got to do 2 in 1. Visit with family and have a blast. And a huge shout out to Knoebels. I shared a drink with my Dad. He got a good ole Pepsi. And he treated me this. It’s a iced tea and lemonade slushie. Definitely the best drink I’ve ever had at an amusement park. Can’t wait to get one again. Thanks Dad!
Riding the flume. So much fun. I even lost my hat and we got quite a few laughs out of that as it zipped over my dad’s head and floated away. 🙂
So here it is:
We’re making progress. But we only have about 5 weeks of summer left. Looks like we need to keep on having fun!
Thanks for stopping by to hear about our summer!

You’re making me long for being a kid with nothing to do all summer but have FUN! Sounds like you’ve already gotten to do so many exciting things. These will be great memories for your kids. And such a bummer that the blueberry picking farm was closed. That’s the worst!
Melanie says
Just wait til you have kids of your own. 🙂 These are great memories. So blessed to be able to spend my days with them.
Hopefully soon for blueberry picking!

I know, I’m getting sad that summer is more than half over too. Your kids are adorable, and your summer sounds like a lot of fun! I need to get my kids out picking fruit, too, then come home and make a pie. Thanks for the idea!
Melanie says
Thanks Marcie! Have fun picking fruit!

I can’t believe we’re already halfway through July! Once the 4th hits, I feel like summer is already half over. And you know what that means…winter! But I’ll stop now! 🙂 Looks like you’ve had a great summer so far. I love the picture of your kids peaking over the side by the tracks!

Can’t believe how fast summer is zooming by! Aaw sorry about the blueberry farm but yay to getting so many fun things crossed off on your list 🙂 Thanks for the reminder though, we haven’t gone fruit picking yet this year yet so definitely going to try to make that happen 🙂

I can’t believe summer is half over either! Looks like you’ve made the most of it and have made lots of memories with your kids that you will cherish for a lifetime. Old railway lines that have been converted to trails are a favorite of mine.
