What I Read – April Book List
Hey friends,
Just sharing the books I read and enjoyed this month. I’ve turned into a reader over the last few years. And I just thought it would be fun to share what I’ve been reading lately. This book lists spans from Cookbooks to Parenting to Christian Growth.
If you’re not a reader, not worries, feel free to skip this post and wait for the next mouth watering recipe. But do check out the cookbooks below. They’re so yummy.
Let’s get to it.
- Penduka 21 Ways to Awaken Passion & Purpose in Everyday Life – Joy McMillian of Simply Bloom.
I can’t say enough great things about this book. Truly. It’s as if Joy knew what I needed most in this season and wrote the book for me. It’s made me ponder. Made me pray. Made me write. Made me cry. It’s incredible. Go get a copy today!
The book truly lives up to it’s name. As I felt such a passion to stick to the roots of what I’m most uniquely created for this great wide world. Joy’s words will truly inspire you!
2. Bread and Wine – Shauna Niequiest
This book tells a story of not just food but people around the table. Definitely my kind of book. If I ever envisioned writing a book it would be similar to this. I love Shauna’s stories behind the meals. I love the people coming together to enjoy the bread and the wine. Precious book.
3. Middle School: The Inside Story
I have 2 Middle Schoolers this year. Let’s just say there are some curve balls. Things I never knew I would need to discuss. Attitudes I never imagined would develop this way. Smells and sorts that I truly never did (or do!) want to smell.
But ahh….it’s a sweet stage. They’re super independent. The older they get, the more I see their own unique characteristics and passions showing up.
This book gave me some great insights. One of my absolute best takeaways, Don’t freak out. I feel like I was born to freak out. It’s what I do. It’s what I do when the milk spills, when the mud gets dragged in, when my favorite frame gets busted.
I also love the empathy part. This seems like a no-brainer. But it’s wise advice, especially if you’re listening to stories about video games or what happened in Math class. Some times it’s hard for me to put myself in their shoes. Empathy is huge. They need to know that : Even though they think they don’t need you, they still need your listening ear and compassionate heart.
If you will soon have or currently have a Middle School Age Child I highly recommend this book. It really helps with some of those awkward things you aren’t sure about.
Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book . Opinions are my own.
Lauren Chandler I was so excited to join the Influence Network Book Club for this latest book. I loved hearing Lauren Chandler’s life story through the ‘grape vine’ so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of her book. Lauren’s book is based around Psalm 107. “There are times when God seems far and we feel we have nothing to offer, but that is when God shows us His steadfast love.”
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Sometimes he wrings the worship from our hearts.
5. Restore My Soul Coloring Book – Tyndale
Tyndale House Publishers has provided you with a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are my own.
This is a beautiful coloring book by Ann-Margret Hovsepian. Her art is amazing! I’ve been wanting to get in on the coloring bandwagon. So when this book became available, I just knew I had to have a copy. This book has over 40 gorgeous pages to color. It has a unique way of combining our devotional time with our creativity. What a beautiful relaxing way to connect with God as our creator.
As soon as I sat down with my new colored pencils I couldn’t stop. I don’t color often but when I do I just can’t walk away from an unfinished piece of ‘art’. Even my kids ages 7 and 11 joined in on the action and had fun coloring these pretty pages. We may or may not have even argued over who gets to color which picture. I would definitely purchase this book again as a gift as I find many women and children would enjoy it’s beautiful array of picture.
