Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
Be still, my heart. It’s finally here. My favorite breakfast of all time.
Brace yourselves. It’s breakfast with chocolate. That’s my kind of breakfast.
I was totally into instant breakfast. The kind where you pour the powder in a cup of milk and gulp it down. When I eliminated a lot from our diets it had to go. I was left helpless for breakfast. I missed it terribly.
So I came across banana smoothies online. I decided to give it a try with cocoa powder for some chocolate zing. Then I discovered dark chocolate cocoa powder and it took it to another level for me.
Now I get my chocolate and some nutrients for breakfast again. My hubby tried to argue with me and tell me it was healthy but what part can he argue with? The bananas? The milk? The ice? See, honey. You ain’t got nothing.
So prepare to be dazzled and amazed when you make yourself this for breakfast tomorrow. It’s so good.

You had me at dark chocolate. I would not have thought of the dark cocoa powder on my own. And I even have some in my cupboard. I’ve gotta try this as soon as my bananas are ripe enough. Thanks for sharing, Mel!

Now I wish I hadn’t just eaten that slice of chocolate birthday cake for breakfast! Freezing my banana to make this for tomorrow! One question – where does the peanut butter come in? I don’t see it listed as an ingredient.
Melanie says
Thanks, I’ll have to correct that. Let me know what you think when you make it. 🙂

Made it – loved it!! Next time I will leave out the chocolate at the end – I only had dark chocolate chips and my blender didn’t do a good job of pulsing them. But then again I can’t eat an M&M blizzard either because of the frozen chunks of chocolate :-). Great recipe! I’m going to make it for my daughter before school tomorrow morning – I think she’ll love it too!!
Melanie says
Glad you liked it. Hope your daughter likes it. Mine does. Much healthier than a blizzard too. 😉 I seriously eat this thing like 5 or 6 mornings a week.

Noo!! Icecubes in the morning? You must be a morning person.
The smoothie (without icecubes!!) sounds delicious though. I hate eating in the mornings so being able to drink my way through the morning sounds way better. Definitely going to try it!

You guessed it. I am a morning person. Hope you like it!

Ahh, yes this sounds delicious!! I thought about adding greek yogurt, but was out and too much snow to drive to the store. Ha I’m going to try your version next. Really, one can’t have enough chocolate and peanut butter 😀
Melanie says
Wow. Snow. So not ready for that yet. I hate running out for one ingredient too so it’s nice to improvise when you can.
I totally agree about the pb and chocolate!

I just have to say that 3 years later and this is still a favorite in our house. We call it Alyssa’s Special Smoothie because she’s crazy about it. Even makes it herself sometimes. We don’t reference the recipe or measure ingredients anymore since we we’ve made it so many times now. I just made a batch that was especially dreamy. Thanks again for sharing!

That’s awesome Tracey! It’s still a favorite in our house too. It’s our go-to smoothie. Thanks for taking the time to write. I love hearing these sorts of stories! 🙂 Thanks for being a loyal reader.
I’m so ready to update these photos to some new fresh ones.
