Desperate. When I say that word what comes to mind?
For me personally, I think of desperation. No other place to turn. I think out of options. I think of doing whatever it takes. I think of no ‘fall back’ plan.
Have you heard the worship song ‘Breathe’ by Michael W Smith? Here’s the lyrics that played this week and got me thinking about desperation in the first place.
“This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your Holy presence living in me
This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very word spoken to me
And I, I’m desperate for You
And I, I’m lost without You”
Whether we realize it or not every single one of us is desperate for Jesus. It’s just that to some of us it’s revealed to others it’s still hidden.
I know I’m desperate for Jesus. I know. I accept. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I know my life would be nothing without Him. I know I wouldn’t even want to imagine myself without Him. He’s the reason I breathe every day. He is the breath I breathe every day.
For the desperate.
Searching for meaning…purpose.
Searching for love….unconditional at all times.
Searching for acceptance…someone who loves me just as I am.
Searching for redemption….saved from regrets…from past mistakes.
Searching for value….someone to think I am worth everything.
Searching for hope….that there’s some greater purpose in my life.
Searching for transformation….for change….not temporary but permanent.

Have you ever found yourself searching?
Searching….desperate for answers. For answers that you can’t seem to find. Answers hidden no matter where you turn. Searching for answers in things that you leave you feeling hopelessly empty?
We’re all desperate for something. What are you desperate for? Has this question ever left you wondering.
Wondering what it’s like to be desperate for THE only someone who can fulfill your every need.
Wondering what it’s like to be desperate for THE only someone who can redeem you from every past mistake.
Wondering what it’s like to be desperate for THE only someone who values you just as you are.
You can chase your fantasies.
You can run after your emotions.
You can search for value and meaning.
But it’s like chasing the wind unless it leads you to that ONE place.
That one place is the cross of Jesus Christ. A place of redemption. A place where His pain was paid for our mistakes. A place of mercy. A place of forgiveness.
A cross where LOVE meets YOU.
I hope and pray you’re desperate enough to ask. “Jesus, if you are who who you say you are, reveal yourself to me. I am desperate to know someone who redeems, fulfills, sacrifices, loves just because. If you’re real show yourself to me. I want to be desperate for the only thing that matters – you.”
What are you desperate for today? Is it for something or THE someone?
Love and blessings,
Melanie
