Description
This is Mom’s best turkey stuffing recipe. It’s classic but a staple for our Thanksgiving meal. My holiday favorite passed down by her grandmother.
Ingredients
Units Scale
- 1 1/2 cups chopped celery ((about 3 stalks))
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 7 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon ground sage
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 12 cups dried bread cubes
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- In a large skillet melt butter. Cook celery and onion until translucent and tender. Remove from heat.
- Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Sprinkle with sage, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper. Pour butter mixture over the bread cubes. Drizzle with chicken broth. Toss to combine and moisten.
- Preheat oven to 325°.
- Bake in a covered casserole dish for 30-45 minutes or until heated through. Or stuff into the cavity of a turkey.
Notes
Uncover for the last 15 minutes for a ‘crunchier’ stuffing.
