You know those days? When Mondays are mundane, Tuesdays are tiring, Wednesdays are worrisome and on it goes. I was in a rut yesterday.
I went to bed Sunday even telling my husband that I was looking forward to tomorrow, Monday. I told him how much I loved Mondays. I get back into a routine. I get a lot accomplished. I stay home all day. I love that.
But somehow today I was just boring. No laughter. No smiles. And no reason.
Nothing horrible happened but nothing great happened. I struggled through my workout sweating in this heat wave.
I didn’t feel like making dinner. But you know what I pulled out an old favorite, got a little creative and we ate dinner.
I planned on eating completely healthy all day. But somehow that chocolate zucchini bread, homemade peanut butter ice cream, and jar of Nutella were calling my name much too loudly.
I can look back on my day and wish upon a star that it had gone differently. I could focus on the wrong things I ate. I can regret not spending more time with the kids.
I sat out on the deck late in the evening. I prayed for God to come to fill me up again. And in the quiet he spoke.
Without days like this we wouldn’t appreciate the great days. The days where Mondays are Marvelous, Tuesdays are Tremendous and Wednesdays I’m with it.
He wanted me to reflect on what had gone well. I love how he always looks for the positive. I need to be more like him.
I can appreciate the good things I did do today. The fact that I did work out. The healthy things I did eat. Cucumber salad for lunch, veggie loaf for dinner.
I prayed with my children. We enjoyed dinner together. Some of the most important things I could do with them.
Likely tomorrow I will be out of my funk. I can look at the past. Enjoy the present. Anticipate the future.
Will every day be amazing? No, I know that cannot be. But I know where my hope lies.
Tomorrow will dawn a new day.
I leave you with one of my favorite hope verses:
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Love and blessings sent your way,
Melanie
