Ingredients

For Cheesecake Filling

  • 1 package (8 ounces cream cheese, softened)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg

For Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

  • 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons (10 5/8 ounces all-purpose flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 cup packed (7 ounces light brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup (3 1/2 ounces) granulated sugar
  • 1 large AND 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

For Cheesecake Filling

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and egg until smooth. Set aside.

For chocolate chip cookie dough

  1. Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl; set aside.
  2. With an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars until thoroughly blended and creamy, about 2 minutes. Add the egg, yolk, and vanilla and mix until combined. Add the dry ingredients and beat at low speed just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Assemble

  1. Press only half of the cookie dough onto the bottom of a greased 8-in. square baking pan.
  2.  Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cookie dough. Crumble remaining dough over top.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned and looks set.
