Ecclesiastes 6:9 Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless; it is like chasing the wind.
If only I could really grasp this every moment of every day.
How often do I find myself fluttering the minutes of life away? I dream about the next phase of life, the perfect house, the next project around the house, the next gadget on my shopping list. It’s all meaningless.
If only I could take those moments from lost time and spend them with the ones I love. If only I could spend them spreading the gospel, the life changing message. These are the only things that have eternal worth.
What true worth am I to God if I don’t value what he values? What true joy can I spread if I don’t enjoy what I have in the here and now? What does it look like to others when we are always talking about “if only…”, “when this happens…”or “with that next raise…”?
Instead I choose…
Joy.
I’m feel joy in (enjoying)…
This perfect summer weather.
Star gazing out on the deck last evening.
The quiet of the morning.
God I no longer want to chase the wind. I want to be swept up in it, enjoying everyday because I’ll never get to relive it. Be my all in all as I embrace this day, today. I don’t know what tomorrow brings but I know I have today and for that I give you thanks.
Psalm 119:37 “Turn my eyes from worthless things and give me life through your word.”
What are enjoying today? What are you embracing? Please share in the comments. I look forward to hearing.

Very well written. It’s all meaningless if not for HIM!!!
