What’s that saying? When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
What about when strawberries are in season and lemons and limes are cheap? Should you still make lemonade? You betcha!
Visions of lemons, limes and strawberries danced in my head. Bam! Then brilliancy hit me. (That doesn’t happen very often. I was shocked).
Strawberry lime lemonade. Just the thought made me do a happy dance. You can do one too if you share my zeal. Otherwise grab your ingredients and get to squeezing.
Delicious summer afternoon beverage. Close your eyes. Dream that you are at the beach and your toes are in the sand, drink in hand. Or your perfect mountain getaway if you’re not a beach lover.
So refreshing.
Gather ingredients. To get the most juice from your lemons use them at room temperature. Roll on counter to loosen juices.
Cut lemons and limes in half.
Beauty.
Place a strainer over a bowl. Twist fork and lemon/lime in opposite directions.
Squeeze out excess juice.
Set lemon and lime juice aside.
In a small saucepan over medium heat combine sugar and 1 cup water.
Cook until sugar dissolves stirring frequently.
Set aside to cool.
Rinse strawberries.
Hull strawberries.
Combine strawberries and 3 cups water in a blender or food processor. I’d go with a blender.
I made a huge mess. I should have taken a picture for you. Just trust me. It was a mess.
Alas, one of these days I’ll get me a Vitamix or Blendtec.
Puree.
In a 2 qt pitcher combine lemon/lime juice…
sugar water and strawberry puree.
Top of with ice. Add water to fill line.
You can go the extra step to strain the seeds from the strawberry puree but I found it was fine just like this.
Plus who needs an extra step? I’m busy enough.
Enjoy!
I hope you’ll try it. Let me know what you think!
Blessings and love,
Melanie
