This week I’m thrilled to share what’s going on in my little corner of this world. Last week we enjoyed the first of fall’s amazing beauty. We visited Brecknock Orchard in Mohnton, PA for a day of fun fall activities including the plane candy drop, (always a favorite for the kids), apple picking and a beautiful lunch at Bird in Hand Family Restaurant.
My parents love Amish country and so I get my love for that place honestly. We get there whenever we can and it’s a great in-between place to visit as we can both drive about and hour and meet in the middle.
I started a bible study with some of the neighborhood gals 2 weeks ago and it’s been going great. I’m thoroughly enjoying our time together to dip deep into the word, share and pray with one another. It seems to be a really blessing to all of us involved and I couldn’t be more thankful.
We’re currently working on the study Pulling Threads by Jen Hatmaker which we were able to access through Right Now media. And thanks to a good friend from church who told me about these amazing resources. Jen Hatmaker is such an inspiration for me. I’ve loved reading here books and just enjoy her unique personality. So far, so great!
On Saturday night we enjoyed a crab feast on the back deck, just soaking up the last warm days has been such a treasure. Hubby came home with crabs, clams and shrimp and it was all you can eat for this family of 5. Have I ever mentioned how much our kids love seafood? Thankful that they love food and especially food from the sea. 🙂
I finally, after all these years of bread baking bought myself a lame. Do you know what lame is? I would have never known before my bread baking days. But this cheap bread tool costs less than $10 on Amazon and I’m so excited about making pretty marks on my loaves. Have you ever used one? Have you ever looked longly at beautiful loaves at the bakery and wondered how they do that? Well, maybe I’m the only one who enjoys staring at loaves of bread. I think maybe I’m in my own little category on that one. 🙂
Anywho, we can create beautiful breads with this little tool. I hope to remember to share photos of them with you as I get started using it.
On to the goods….
On Wednesday night a friend handed me this book, Kisses from Katie I’ve heard great things. It’s been on my reading list for about 2 years but I’ve never taken the opportunity to read it. With this rainy gloomy weather, I sat down last night and tore through the first 2 chapters. I’m in love already!
Tell me. I love discussing books? Have you ever read Kisses from Katie? If so, I’d love to hear more. What was your biggest takeaway?
Can you believe Thanksgiving is only 2 months away? It seems incredible. Last week it was still hot and I was wearing shorts. This week I’m wearing pants and a sweater. I even put on a scarf this week. No way!
I’m not trying to rush the season of course. But I love Thanksgiving. It’s such a beautiful celebration.
And isn’t this canvas just perfect for wrapping up all my thoughts on this lovely time of year?
