Well, it’s official. Summer is here. And we have just enjoyed our first full week of no school. I can’t believe how different the kids look in just 9 short months. It’s crazy. But I’m so happy for photos and photo editing to make this all possible.
I do have one sad note though. I was looking back through my pictures of last August to create these little collages or first and last day. I came across a problem. I can’t find any pictures of the boys on the first day of school. I simply can’t believe they’re gone.
I’ve looked in my online account through SmugMug. I’ve looked on my hard drive and they’re no where to be found. I’m so sad. I have so many precautions and yet I still lost pictures. They must have never made it off an SD card before I swiped it clean. Ugh. Makes me angry. But all I can do is learn from it.
No pictures of my oldest, C, the 6th grader for 2 reasons.
#1 He was homeschooled (cyber schooled) this year.
#2 He’s beginning to refuse getting his picture taken.
Which happened on both the first and last day. But you’ll see…I still have plenty of him on this page. I’ll think I’ll put something together it just won’t include him wearing a backpack. 🙂
And this dude did have a birthday a few days ago. We celebrated with a few close friends….
….and this.
He loves peanut butter. So I made a homemade ice cream cake with home churned peanut butter and chocolate ice cream. It was my first time making an ice cream cake and it turned out wonderful. I’m thinking I’ll have to make this again for the blog.
Definitely worthy of some better pictures and a written recipe. Just looking for an excuse to make it again. 🙂
We enjoyed last Saturday at a local farm. My son actually helps at the farm fairly often. He’s my animal lover, for sure. This is a local event by friends of ours. It includes demonstrations on how to shear sheep, make butter, etc. My kids love it. You’ll notice only 2 are in the pictures.
That’s because Dad took the youngest to help a friend. But it sounds like he got to have lots of fun too. But daddy isn’t a photographer like mommy so there’s no pictures. 🙁
We kicked off the summer with some strawberry picking. I just love it. We’ll probably go back a second time. Because let’s face it. Strawberry season is short here and I am in love with strawberries so I have to take advantage of it. We had beautiful weather and lots of memories.
We also got to sign up for the reading program at the library. We kids love to read so it’s a win-win.
Our summer is going great. And I couldn’t be happier.
Hope your summer is off to a great start too!

I love that you take pictures of your kids on the first day of school and the last. Great idea. I’m going to start doing the same. You have beautiful kids Melanie.
