Work Out. Exercise. Running. Cardio.
To some of you it’s fun. To others, torture. To some of you it’s an obligation. To others, it’s a commitment. To others of you it made be on your to-do list that you never get to. To others, it’s just a way to get the scale numbers down.
What thoughts immediately run though your mind when I say those words? Oops. I just said ‘run’ again. 😉
I started working out about 8 years ago to lose weight. I didn’t like the way I looked any more. I rarely wanted to do anything physical even weeding or mowing.
I had two young children and was fairly young myself. I had no idea that exercise could be fun. For many years I simply just didn’t think about it. Exercise was non existent.
It all began with the simple things. I started walking with my awesome neighbor friend, Shelley. We’d take the double strollers and push the kids around the neighborhood. Talk about a workout. We’ve got hills here, baby!
It was great. We got to chat. The kids got to be with other kids their age. We were outside enjoying the sunshine and warmth.
That’s where it all started for me. I realized how much I liked this.
When the weather got cold I needed another option. Going to the gym just didn’t suit my lifestyle with the little ones. So I bought some exercise DVDs and starting working about 3 times a week for about 30 minutes here at home.
Reason #1
To lose weight.
This is exactly what I set out to do and I accomplished it. I hated how I felt before. My clothes were too tight. My confidence was down. My energy was down.
I worked hard and it was gradual but eventually my number dropped. To get to my ideal weight it took me about 2 years. I feel great and that’s such a good feeling.
Reason #2
It’s good for me.
I know I’m doing my body good when I work out. I see amazing results from working out.
- Better attitude.
- I’m ready to start my day once I’ve done something worthwhile for myself.
- Statistics prove over and over again that exercise has healthy benefits.
- I sleep better. Probably because I’ve worked my body harder.
Looking forward to sharing with you the other reasons why I work out next week! So stay tuned.
To be continued…

Working out, to me at least, is such a great mood enhancer – wouldn’t you agree 🙂
What are some of the DVD’s you have worked out too? I’ve tried P90X and TapOutXT and loved them both.
Recently I stumbled on this website – the Daily Hiit – that posts FREE daily workouts!

I definitely agree! I can go from crabby to happy during a workout. I do use P90x and Insanity as well as Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. I love mixing things up. I also like to run. I call myself a seasonal runner though because I only do it in the warmer months. Look forward to running into you in the blogosphere again. 🙂
