This week is stressing me out. Just let me tell you. STRESSED is DESSERTS spelled backwards. I seriously think I could eat an entire pan of brownies right now.
It all started with that lovely holiday called Labor Day. Now nothing bad happened on Labor Day. It was a great day of relaxing and eating. But it totally put me behind in my week. Monday’s wash ended up being Tuesday’s wash. Actually as I’m writing this is Thursday afternoon. It’s all folded and yet it still hasn’t all been put away yet.
My son started school. That had me in fits of rage the week before because he was enrolled yet no one had contacted me to tell me any details. Or when he would receive his supplies. So he got started on school late. When we did get his supplies he needed lots of help navigating and figuring things. Now do you know why there is still wash on my family room floor?
There are tomatoes all over my kitchen that really to take their place in the canning jars. I want them to just magically turn into sauce, tomato soup, bruschetta and salsa and appear on my shelves. Yeah. That’s not happening.
I discovered yesterday morning that I never paid the electric bill last month. There’s been 3 dentist visits this week and an earache. Lovely! Where’s that pan of brownies???
To top it off my fridge and freezer stopped working! Brownies! Brownies! Brownies! And a frappe to top it off would be awesome right about now.
I’m a foodie. For real. You won’t ever come to my house and not find the fridge, freezer and shelves stashed with food. It’s just how I am and how I’ve always been. I love food. I love to food shop. So when I say my fridge and freezer are not working. Well, that poses a bit of a problem. As it’s the only fridge I have. Fortunately I do have a chest freezer to rely on.
I’m supposed to be hosting a girl’s night tonight. I think I’m only going to be serving brownies. Because that’s all I want to think about right now. Anyone else want to come over for brownies and a good cry?
Now after my thoughts of stress and brownies I knew I should claim the peace that comes from Christ. The only one who can give it.
I looked at that word STRESSEDand you know what I see?
I see the Savior saying REST not stRESSED.
Find REST in me.
Jeremiah 31:25(NLT) For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you.
I am claiming these verses today.
Through him I can be at REST instead of STRESSED. REST to stRESSED.
God I give my worries to you. I give my stress to you. I give you everything I am carrying that burdens me down. Thank you God that you can turn my day completely around as I rely on you.
What they say is true: If you worry why pray. If you pray why worry.
Love and blessings,
Melanie
I hear you on the stress this week, I’ve been feeling it too.. and I have a counter of cucumbers and soybeans staring at me telling me “lets go” get me canned and blanched! I’d love a day off but that’s just not in the works right now. Hoping your weekend is a relaxing one!
Thanks Pamela. I hope so too! But the pears at the orchard are calling my names. I simply can’t miss out on canning pears this year. They were so good last year. Did you grown your own soybeans? I’ve never tried growing those. My cucumbers did wonderful this year though.
