What I Read October Book List – A compilation of the titles of books I’ve read this month. Sharing snippets and reviews of what’s on my bookshelf.
Where has fall gone? It’s slipping through my hands and I’m trying desperately to capture it before it’s another season behind us. We’ve enjoyed visits to the apple orchard, a romp through the corn maze, a fall beach weekend, a soup cook-off gathering and so many other wonderful things.
I somehow felt in my mind that when the kids went back to school I would surely be able to slow down, savor and read a bit more. I don’t where that thought came from but it sure needs to be kicked to the curb. Because that hasn’t happened. As soon as they were back to school and I well full force into baking, blogging and keep up with the logistics of running this thing well.
But there’s always another season that maybe will be a little less busy. Like winter, my least favorite. Where all I want to do is stay home, sip warm drinks ☕ and sit by the fire ?. I’ll surely have time to read then, right?
Always keep hope. It’s the only thing that will keep you going. ☺
What I Read October Book List
Compiled below are a list of books that I’ve read throughout the month. Some were purchased. Some were sent in exchange for a review. Others were borrowed from the library.
I’ve been expanding my horizons in the reading realm over the last few years. This year my goal was to complete 24 books. Yup, that’s right. Only 24. I know what some of you avid readers are thinking. But this was a good goal for me especially since I didn’t want to choose a goal that would burden me.
So here is my official list from this past July. And in case you were wondering. I don’t count cookbooks towards my goal. I share them because they’re fun to flip through and gain new ideas. Please let me know your latest favorites as well! I’m always looking for new good reads.

Kisses From Katie– Katie J Davis
Things That I Loved About this Book
A friend recently let me borrow this book. Out of all the books I’ve read this year, this one I flew threw the quickest. It wa such an easy read and words just begged me to turn the page. I love Katie’s heart. I love her honesty. I enjoyed that she was real and shared how some days were more difficult but that she knew this is exactly where she was supposed to be.
I loved her enthusiasm for the children of Africa and her hearbeat to help as many as she could. It definitely has inspired me in walk, looking to examine my motives, intentions and plans. this brought me back to a place of humility and God’s grace that he is with me and helping me on this journey. I just need to show up and follow him daily.
Katie’s example of trust and obedience is absolutely amazing. This story is of a young girl, just out of school who goes to the mission field for a year. But after the end of the year approaches she knows this is her place to be in life. But she had promised her parents she’s come back and go to college. She honors her parents wishes and is so homesick for Uganda but the story that unfolds can only have happened because of God’s goodnesss.
Her time back in the United States allows her to raise funds and awareness for these children and families. So amazing.
Final Thoughts: It’s a heart-warming story that’s sure to leave you inspired as well. This will definitely make my top 5 books this year!
A Field Guide for Everyday Mission: 30 Days and 101 Ways to Demonstrate the Gospel – Ben Connelly and Bob Roberts, Jr.
Things That I Loved About this Book
I love that this book is set up like a devotional. If you just have about 5 minutes a day you can read through the entire book in one month.
The set up for practical ways to show the gospel to the people around you is superb. There are 3-4 practical tips that you can share God’s love and with others.
Some examples:
Tip 61: Throw a Super Bowl party: Everyone watches at least this one game every year.
Tip 62: Invite people to life celebrations: Birthday parties, weddings. and other life events. This is a great time to bring friends together. Find ways to mention that God is the center of your celebration.
Tip 63: Invite people to Thanksgiving and Christmas. The holidays can be lonely. Bring people into your celebrations and give them a chance to experience love and blessing.
Final Thoughts: If you’re looking to make an impact with the people that live near you, I highly recommend this book!
I hope to have inspired you from my reading list.
Let me know! Have you read any of these titles or do you plan to? What’s the best book you’ve read recently? I’m always looking for new books to add to my ever-growing list.??
