In my post last week I started a 2 part post on why I work out. You can the part 1 of 2 here: https://gatherforbread.com/reasons-why-i-work-out-part-1/
I decided to write this out simply because I’ve never taken the time to do it. I’m been working out faithfully for 8 years. But never sat down and wrote about or even gave it a whole lot of thought as to why I keep going.
So those days when I don’t feel like working out I can think about these posts I’ve shared with all of you. Yes, these days happen to me to. Days where I wake up lacking energy. Days that I wake up feeling bummed. It especially happens to me on rainy days.
But you know what I do, I push through. I’ve learned to do that a long time ago. If I just push past those feelings and do it anyway I’m almost always extremely glad I did.
The motivation seems to come back or I find that it is a great day after all. Or I find that I’m inspired by some awesome song while I’m exercising.
Push past those feelings, you won’t regret it!
Reason #3
It boosts my energy.
I really do feel more energetic. In my past life I would try to find ways to get out of mowing the yard or any physical labor. Now when the grass needs cut. I say, “Why not? Burn some calories and get a chore done all in one? Sign me up!”
I love having more energy for my kids and my husband. I love wanting to be outdoors more often. I love taking the kids to different parks for new adventures.
Reason #4
I have more confidence.
Now that my weight is no longer an issue, I have more confidence in who I am. In who God created me to be. I can say ‘yes’ to riding bikes as a family. I can confidently put running half a marathon on my bucket list.
I can look at myself in the mirror and know that I’m doing what I need to in order to care for my body.
Reason # 5
I enjoy it.
I really do. I like to get up early before the kids. Before my day has to begin. I can honestly say I like. The reason I know this is because I include it on vacations and days where I don’t feel 100%. When I started planning on workouts for vacations then I knew this was a lifestyle for me. That didn’t start until about 3 years ago though.
– – – – –
Before kids I worked full time. Came home. Made dinner. Did a few things around the house. Chilled. Got back up the next day and did again.
I almost get sad looking back. What was I thinking? I could have been enjoying life more. Trying news things. Taking new adventures. Trust me. It’s much more difficult to try new things when you have three children. If you have the opportunity, go explore. Go seek. Go climb. Enjoy life.
I’m so glad I took the first step and didn’t stop.
I’m loving my new life and enjoying it to the fullest.
What others reasons do you have to work out? I’d love to hear in the comments!
Love ya all!
Melanie
Hi, Melanie! Found you on here through Encouragement for Today. I like your site/blog! Just wondering if you’ve ever done Faithful Workouts. It’s on Direct TV. It’s an awesome workout to Christian music woven together with a short devotional during the stretching time. I am so hooked on it! It’s helped me lose and keep off 37 pounds! I, too, am really into exercise for the first time in my life. If I don’t work up a sweat, the day doesn’t seem complete. I added running about 7 months ago, and I love it, too! I’ve done 2 5Ks and I’m thinking about training for a 10K or a sprint (mini) triathlon someday!
God bless you, and nice “meeting” you! Lisa
Thanks for stopping by Lisa. I’ve never done Faithful Workouts. Sounds like it would be fun. We currently don’t have cable or Direct TV. I’ll definitely keep it in mind for the future though.
Wow! 37lbs. That’s awesome! Good for you. I’d love to do a race of some kind too. I’m thinking a 10k would be about perfect.
Glad to have ‘met’ you also!
I’ll hope you’ll be back often. 🙂
